Going to Penang and not eating Char Kway Teow (or Fried Kway Teow) is a sin. Trust me on that. You can’t go to that state and not eat Char Kway Teow. For many years, my usual haunt or place to indulge myself in a plate or two has been Sister’s Char Kway Teow.
Long queue, expensive noodles is a norm but it seems that I have been missing from Penang for quite some time. Now, the same stall on MacAllister Road requires a clarification that they are the original. And gone are the long queues and expensive noodles. Now they are more affordable.

We still get the famous “crab meat” on the kway teow but it somehow tastes different. Not as good or did my expectations exceed reality this time around?

And then there was the yam cake, which was also famous last time. So famous that I always had to “tar pau” it back to KL. This time around, I could have eaten a whole bucket of it myself and no one will tell me that they are out. Again, time has taken its toll on this establishment. Nothing seems to be as good as before.

We were supposed to meet Sharon’s friend at Sisters’ CKT but after a while, she wasn’t there yet. Turns out she went to the other “Sisters’ CKT” which I will now call Lau Yee CKT. This is apparently the hot new CKT property in Penang.
We are talking about long queues, expensive noodles and well, pretty much everything that the old Sisters’ CKT is supposed to be.

The difference between this and Sisters? Well, this one has lap cheong in replacement of the crab meat. Oh, and this one taste better too. Find the Red Cap Auntie on Lorong Selamat to get a taste.
