Recently I was given the chance by Photokaki to shoot MPOC 2009. This is basically the final leg of the Malaysian Paintball Championship so I get to shoot paintballers without them shooting me back. Well, maybe a few stray shots.

This is not the first time I was shooting a paintball tournament but it was definitely the first time I shot it with a mid-range prime. My previous experience was with the 18-200mm so I had a lot of versatility. This time around, I was more limited in what I could shoot.

I guess the main idea is always to capture action shots. And being a bit further away, I had to either move nearer (which I can’t) or hope that the action happens in front of me. With the action happening in front of me, I also run the risk of stray bullets hitting me. Such is the dilemma of a paintball photographer.
Oh, and it is not so much the pain of getting hit but rather the risk of the lens getting hit. That will be more painful than any physical pain.

So, this experience was quite an eye opener for me and I certainly don’t mind doing it again. And yes, I will still like to use my 85mm instead of longer lenses. Unless someone sponsors me a 70-200mm f2.8 of course :)

Nah.. 70-200 not long enough.. u need 300 2.8 :P
BUY! BUY! BUY!
