Another weekend, and another three movies with Sharon. Luckily she likes watching movies as much as I do. And for the past weekend, I had to thank her because her choice of the movie was undoubtedly the one I enjoyed the most.
Paul Rudd is fast establishing himself in these quirky comedies and he does well here again. But Jason Segel stole the show as Paul’s BFF. He doesn’t even have a proper IMDB info page yet but I think he will after excelling in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and now I Love You, Man.
Although the local screens censored some of the words here and there (its usual), but it is still enjoyable especially since all the supporting casts did well in their roles as well. Romantic comedies have been above average only so far but I Love You, Man takes it up a notch.

We also caught the most anticipated movie this week, the big blockbuster, Angels and Demons. Following the success of Da Vinci Code, this prequel finally gets its much-awaited big screen debut. I definitely found it more enjoyable than Da Vinci Code.
The pace is faster, and it definitely feels more real than Da Vinci Code. While I couldn’t even finish the first movie, this time around, I had no problem. People said the book is way better and more detailed but I haven’t read the book so I guess I didn’t have any expectations to live up to.

Watching three movies over the weekend means you will eventually be left with no choice. With Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans in the line-up, one wonders why this movie was so low profile. After sitting through it, I guess I know why.
The premise of people with powers and given simple name such as Mover, Pusher, Sniffer etc seems like an interesting prospect. Putting them in Hong Kong sounds great but then the movie tried to be too artistic for its own good.
Some movies are best left to be mindless action and Push fits that envelope. Too bad the director tried to make it something more. At the end of the day, it left so many questions unanswered that you can’t help but think this movie was written with a sequel in mind.

It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
