Another weekend and another round of movies watched and now reviewed. The two biggest movies over the weekend was Monsters vs Aliens and Terminator Salvation. One was made for the masses, the other made for fans.
Well, while Terminator was quite enjoyable for me, Monsters vs Aliens was still the better movie for this weekend.
Monsters vs Aliens has a simple plot. It is about monsters fighting aliens. The appeal of the show lies in the characters and they are quite brilliantly voiced. Not to mention, the one-liners they spew out at times is absolutely laugh worthy.
And look out for the subtle parodies of popular alien films when you watch this film. The best part of the movie is the over-the-top representation of An Encounter with the Third Kind. While the movie may seem paper thin and at times, a bit bare, the moments of absolute laughter more than cover up the flaws it has.

After a cartoon made for the masses, it was time for a darker movie, but with more bangs and booms but this is definitely one made for the fans. If you have no idea what the Terminator series is about, then watching this movie will leave you in utter confusion.
This movie explains the future and how the whole Terminator saga came about. In other words, it is about how John will save the world (or America) from Skynet and in turn, saves his father, who will in turn then save his mother (in Terminator 1), who will then give birth to John.
The movie excelled action-wise and if you are a fan of Skynet cyborgs, then the amount of cyborg-people in this movie will be a thrill. Giant robots, hidrobots, bots on cycle – you name it, Skynet probably built it. The acting was ok but Christian Bale seems to think he is still The Dark Knight – carrying the hoarse voice over from his other movie.
The only downside of this movie is that you are likely to fall asleep within 10 minutes if you have no clue about how Terminator started off. If you really want to catch this movie, do yourself a favour and start watching Terminator 1. And if you do watch this movie, look out for Arnie as he makes an appearance.
So, thats all for today. If you had to pick one movie, then go with Monsters vs Aliens.

Arnold looked a bit too “plasticky” ‘tho
@meendee in Salvation? Lol, CGed ma :P
well…I did watch Salvation without catching the 1st movie. I drove my friend nuts after that with questions about the whole time travel thing that didnt make much sense to me.
Tha way I see it, they might as well send Kyle back in time to kill the person that invented Terminators in the 1st place instead…Kyle is supposed to go back in time and knocked up Sarah Connor? Geez..
@Tracy Time travel never makes sense :P So many possibilities at to which point you can travel back and try to change the future.
Skynet brought it upon themselves. If they didn’t send a T800 back to kill Sarah, Kyle won’t go back in time. Then he won’t knock Sarah up, then John won’t be born :P
terminator was snoozeville.
@sharon hehehe ya you fell asleep :D
yeah! ooze gonna save me?
@babe me me! I save! :D
