Four Flavour Scallop

It is not often that I choose a dinner place that is below par. Don’t get me wrong, The Village at Pullman Putrajaya looks very nice. Located by the lake, it is quiet and the ambiance is great. And the service was quite good. They even set up a special table for me when I reserved a table for two. Well, maybe because I was the only one there.

But the food leaves much to be desired. We started off with the four flavour scallops which is basically four scallops pan-fried with four toppings. The scallops felt raw, and the toppings weren’t fantastic. The sambal topping was quite a weird combination.

Strawberry Salad

Then we tried the Strawberry Salad. The greens were fresh, the strawberries were sweet but they had the weird sauce. If you go and eat this, don’t eat the weird sauce. Other than that, should have stuck to a normal salad.

Aglio Olio

I know Aglio Olio is meant to be plain. But at least give it some flavour. This is probably the most plain pasta I’ve eaten. Except those that you just boil and leave it on a plate. But who does that? Fortunately, I was quite hungry so I ended up wolfing this down as well.

Foie Gras

Sharon and I is on a quest to try out foie gras at different places. Which is was why I came here. I knew they have it. And so, the order came and by far, this is the best dish of the night. But even then, it was slightly overcooked and it is in no way near the quality of the one served at Cafe Cafe.

As much as I love the ambiance at The Village, they will need to do something about the quality of their food for me to return there.

If you are interested to go, the restaurant is located at:

  7. William on Wednesday 1, 2009

I had dinner at the village restaurant, and it was excellent, scallops and gooseliver should be eaten slightly undercooked.

  8. Paul on Wednesday 1, 2009

I think you are a goode photographer but if you look the food, it looks fantastic.
Maybe the competitor paid you for such comments!!
I was at the village 2 weeks ago and we had a fantastic wedding on the lake,
sure you may review when sending such bad comments, it is easy to criticise….jub be honest with reviews….

  9. Nicholas Leong on Wednesday 1, 2009

@William Good that you enjoyed the dinner. But I guess it was either a bad night for the cook or our taste buds are different :) And the scallops and goose liver were compared to other restaurants that we have eaten before but once again, I am glad you enjoyed the dinner there

@Paul I didn’t say the presentation of the food wasn’t great. And accusing me of being paid without basis is ignorant of you. Maybe you work for The Village then?

And I am glad you enjoyed the wedding, it is a great location. And I am honest with my reviews. You having a good time there, does not mean the experience will translate to me.

  10. wak on Wednesday 1, 2009

hi… it is expensive for the food?

  11. Nicholas Leong on Wednesday 1, 2009

@Wak I would say it is not too expensive. Probably on par with other high-end dining places in town.

Be prepared to spend a minimum of RM100 for dinner for two?
