Free soup

It’s quite a delayed posting but the recent Father’s Day saw me and my family at a very porkish restaurant in KL. What better way to celebrate than to indulge in our favourite meat? So, we booked a place at El Cerdo and decided to go as porkish as we want.

We were even given free soup to kick off our meal. It tasted like it was tomato-based and it was quite nice.

Sangria

Of course, before the actual food arrives, cool down with some Sangria and refresh your taste buds for all the delicious meat coming your way.

Ham at El Cerdo

We started off with appetizer which consists of thinly sliced ham served with bread. The saltish ham with the bread goes well together and from here, it even looks like salmon!

Salad with meat

Then of course we need some greens so salad was part of the order. But just greens is no good, we must have pork! So, again, roasted pork belly and some other porky parts were thrown into the mix. Yum!

Ribs at El Cerdo

The first main course arrived and it was none other than ribs! Soft, juicy, tender ribs that will have you licking your fingers after you are done.

Piglet at El Cerdo

But the main attraction is the roast piglet. Just like the Chinese version except it is crunchier and the meat somehow tastes better. Not to mention, there is a ritual where you cut the piglet with a plate (Yes, it is that crunchy and tender!) and then smash the plate in a pail. Apparently, it will bring you good luck in either love or money – your choice.

I was just there to eat it up. Served with some sort of gravy, the piglet is something you will go back for.

Chocolate Pie with ice-cream

And lastly, we finish it all off with desserts and we tried their chocolate pudding which is like the Molten Lava Choc in other restaurants with Pistachio ice-cream. Not exactly my favourite flavour of ice-cream so I would have prefered it if they used vanilla instead.

Overall, a great meal but one that will dent your wallet a fair bit. For all the above (a meal for 4), it cost about RM500++. Interested to give it a go?
