Morning Meal

It’s been a while. I’ve resisted temptation for a while now but I finally succumbed. I decided that I needed to macro. And it was quite satisfying with my quick express trip to the local butterfly park for a quick run of my new lens. And also see if I was rusty.

Well, I was. I was shooting at ISO1000 most of the time, but any lower and I got a shutter speed that was somehow less ideal for me. Not to mention, I wanted natural light which made things a bit more difficult. But it was still quite fun. I went there early in the morning, and was one of the first few visitors to the park. And I was intruding on its inhabitants’ breakfast.

Sparkling Green

I decided to go with the butterfly farm because I wanted a guarantee that I will be able to spot easy to shoot subjects. I could have gone to FRIM, Bukit Gasing or Tmn Rimba Kiara but those might yield less than optimum fun for my comeback.

Next, I spotted this sparkling green fella near the leaves. I almost missed him. Guess shiney camouflage didn’t work this time.

Not Ready Yet

Then of course, I think butterflies are also slow to wake up in the morning as evident from this lil guy. It was going for a flower that is not quite ready to feed it yet.

Striking

And finally, I saw the butterfly that I was amazed with the previous time. And this time around, it was the perfect opportunity to shoot it. Look at it! What a striking beauty, eh?

Modern Age Dragon

But the park is not all about butterflies, you get to see some other residents as well. The modern age dragon is quite used to hanging around the pond area. And they are quite interesting fellas.

So, this marks my return into macro. Hope it will last this time around.

Looks a tad oversharpened, but nonethless such lovely and beautiful “models” you’ve got there! Me heart flutterflies!
Butterflies are most inactive when the weather is still cooling, eg. morning. Go in the afternoon, and you’ll be chasing them rather than taking their pixies hehe.
