The Panda

When I was in Taipei, I found out they have a zoo. So, I dragged Sharon to the zoo (not exactly her favourite place) and she was a good sport in following me there. It was located right at the end of one of the MRT lines and well, they have pandas! Definitely worth the visit for me, to see pandas. And some koalas. But the reflection was so bad on the glass that I didn’t get a good shot of the koalas.

The Owl

The Taipei Zoo, is cheap to visit, even cheaper than Zoo Negara and it is clean and well maintained. But it is big and some of the animals seem so far away and some of the enclosures are closed. It is not as well-designed as the Singapore Zoo but it has its charms.

My recommendation is to visit the pandas, the koalas and the nocturnal animals. The nocturnal animal exhibition is pretty good as you can get good look at the owls. And I like them owls.

Big Ears

You also get to see some cute creatures like this big ear fella here. For nocturnal animals, they were quite active but I think the zoo has this system in place where their day and night is inverse from that of ours. That way, we get to see them being active.

Fish eat fish

Towards the end of the exhibition, you are given an aquarium, sort of. And the main attraction for me is seeing these fishes with long mouth like a gharial croc eating the smaller fishes. Yes, I am evil that way, seeing lil fishes struggle in fear when they are about to be eaten.

So, the Taipei Zoo is nice but visit it only if you are willing to walk long distances.
