Beancurd Noodle

Recently (well, not that recent truth be told) had lunch with Anthony in Din Tai Fung, Mid Valley. This is actually one of the “must visit” restaurants when you visit Taipei (or so numerous sites say) but since it is so close to home, might as well visit it. After all, lunch was free so I could afford some place that I normally wouldn’t go for lunch.

I ordered what I called “Beancurd Noodle” but its not noodles made out of tofu. Its just that the noodle contained various “meat” made out of tofu. Pretty good stuff, although not as filling as I thought it would be. Then again, it tofu.

Xiao Long Bao

Of course, we wouldn’t go to a Taiwanese restaurant and not order Xiao Long Bao. This is a definite must have and it is one of the signature dishes of Din Tai Fung. It was soupy and the skin was strong enough to make sure that I could eat it without bursting it on the plate itself. Definitely recommended.

Flat Xiao Long Bao

To the rest of the world, this is probably just flat dumplings. But well, Flat Xiao Long Bao sounds so much cooler right, so I dub these Flat Xiao Long Bao. Without the soup. Other than that, it tastes alright. Meaty stuff inside a wrap. Typical of your everyday dumpling.

So, there you have it, lunch at Din Tai Fung. Not a bad place to go to if you are feeling generous with your wallet.

Hhehheehhe. There are too many Chinese restaurants here. (but no dumplings T__T) But it would be cool if we had that here in Cebu too. Ayala rent is high and food is cheap. Market is tough ;)
