New Moon

Let’s get it out the way first. Bella is a selfish bitch. That much is clear from the movie. After all, what else can you call a girl who wants everything her way with non of the consequences?

Now that we got that out of our way, I have to say that I am not a fan of Twilight. I barely stayed awake during the first movie and the only good thing I can say about New Moon is that it is better than the first movie. At least, staying awake wasn’t such a difficult chore.

But Twilight have their fans, and the appeal is easy to see. You have the emo girl, the weird ass hero where girls think is the next sexy thing, a guy who I can actually see why girls would like and a love triangle. Sharon loves the books, and she loves the movies.

On the other hand, you have people like me, who can’t stomach the emo scenes, particularly when the leading actress wears the same facial expression whether she is happy, sad or angry. I can’t stand the pale hero who is like a wuss of a vampire. At least some of the other vampires in the later part of the movie were cooler.

The werewolves, seems to be an excuse to show off shirtless buffed up guys. I am not a fan of the movie because it throws away the very reasons why I think vampires and werewolves are cool, in a nerdy geeky sort of a way. Firstly, I expect vampires to die a very painful death when exposed to the sun, not twinkle. Secondly, I expect werewolves to transform rather painfully, thats the whole angst that they have right? I mean imagine growing a snout, sprouting hairs and fangs, and growing a few times your size, have your bone structure changed and all. Its not like TRANSFORMERS as New Moon would like people to believe.

Jacob jumping mid-air and changing to werewolf is like Bumblebee changing into a car. I guess that is why I never caught on to the Twilight series. And the fact that it is littered with slow, cliche lines didn’t help.

Of course, Sharon loves it so there must be a reason right? There are a lot of reasons, when I take off my biased view. If you never loved the old traditional potrayal of the vamps and wolves, and you think of the vamps as mysterious people and the wolves as raw sexual beings, then you pretty much would love how New Moon has painted them to be. If you absolutely adore all these teen romance, then you are the kind of audience that will adore New Moon.

All in all, New Moon might not be a bad movie, but it is not everyone’s cup of tea. It certainly isn’t mine.

Haha, loved the review. I work at a bookstore and so you can just imagine how much I hear about Twilight every day. Ladies from ages 10 to 80 come in gushing over the books & movies. I can’t stand it. :| I read the first book & gave up on it.. it was nothing special. And the first movie was quite lame. I agree with you.. the whole twinkling thing is just weird. :| But then again, Meyer did something right apparently.. she has made a killing on the whole twilight saga.

But I agree. It’s not my cup of tea either. :| Not at all.. lol

Eh, that movie was like the most boring thing for me. Wasted 2 hours of my life watching half naked men parade around the forest wasn’t exactly my idea of a fun saturday :P

@Vincent haha i think the haters all feel that way :P

@Latrina So did JK Rowling :P but at least I liked that. After a while, its not really literature genius. Its just ermm.. hype.

@babe hehe its ok. as long as you like it. Got a surprise for you :)

@Mark Leo hahaha those naked men sprouted hair in an instant too! :P
