There are many apps on the App Store and many charge more than they should. It makes it all that impressive when someone does really good work and sell it at extremely reasonable price. Press Start Studio’s Twin Blades for the iPod Touch/ iPhone does exactly just that.

For a bargain of 99 cents, you are getting pretty much the best presentation I’ve seen in an iPod Touch/ iPhone game yet. The colours are pleasing to the eyes, the animation’s great and the character as well as the zombies are cute. Put in dismembering zombies, freezing them, roasting them or holy blasting them in skeletons and you will be wondering why you even bothered paying for games that are not even half of what is available here.

Beneath the pretty graphics, lie a simple game of hack-n-slash-n-shoot. You have a choice of using your blades on the zombies or when things get too hectic on screen, then you can choose one of the many guns you have. You start off with a simple gun which can be upgraded to a machine gun to a flamethrower, to a ice gun as well as a holy blast.
The holy blast is pretty cool turning zombies into skeletons with a single blast. As the level increase, you will notice that the zombies are getting harder to kill, and therefore you need to upgrade the levels of the guns. How to upgrade guns? Simple, just kill more zombies.

While it is all pretty and fun, you will get a bit bored sometimes. This is one game where you play in short bursts rather than sit through it for a long time. Because after all, you are really just running left to right and killing zombies along the way. I am not a big fan of the virtual buttons but since the iPod Touch/iPhone has only one button, I guess that will have to do.
All in all, it is a pretty amazing package at a very cheap price. I definitely recommend this one.
