This is going to be one of those post about food that I can’t remember the price. Luckily PS.Cafe has an online menu where I can check for the exact name of the food items. One point to note, if you are coming here by cab, most won’t know the name Palais. So it is easier to tell them Thai Embassy or Orchard Towers. Palais is just a few steps away.

Back to food! We started off with something healthy for everyone to share, but Sharon and I ate majority of it. It is the Berry Plate which is lots of berries with yoghurt and some honey over it. Quite good stuff and off to a healthy start!

And then I stole Alvin’s Eggs Benedict for a shot, but luckily for him, I didn’t steal the eggs too. It was basically muffins with poached eggs topped with hollandaise. Looks really yummy and I always wanted to order Egg Benedict. Maybe next time.

Then my sister ordered another egg dish and this was the PS. Big Bacon with Eggs. I love eggs and this came with 2 eggs which you can try different style and it has bacon, toast, mushrooms, a big tomato and it is all really good for brunch. We couldn’t eat lunch after this so the big brunch was really worth it.

Still on the path of the food that I did not eat but shot pictures of, we next had Dwina’s meal. This was the PS. Bolognaise, which is err spaghetti with homemade ground beef, bacon, grated parmesan cheese and tomato sauce. Still looks pretty good though.

And we have now arrived at the food that Sharon and I shared. We had to have soup especially when it is called Portobello Mushroom with Watercress and Truffle Oil. I like all three stuff so the soup was thumbs up for me! No chunky mushrooms but it was fine and smooth. On to our main course!

This was why we came here. Alvin told us about the burger that you can squeeze and nothing will drop out. The patty will stay in place along with everything else. Sounds magical? You bet and it is true!

We had the Brunch Burger which is chargrilled wagyu & US chuck pattie topped with fried egg, bacon, onion ring, and melted gruyere & mozarella cheese. This was awesome. Well, except for the onion ring as I am not a big fan of onions. And I have no idea what gruyere is. But everything stays in place and it was not messy to eat at all!

So, if you are interested in trying them out, you can find them at:

Every once in a while, you come to a restaurant that you know you will keep coming back to. Yuzu is that Japanese restaurant for me and Sharon. While it may not be cheap, but the fresh sashimi and the absolutely beautiful presentation keeps us coming back for more. Quality comes at a price they say, and this is a price that we are willing to pay for.

I decided to treat her to lunch after attending a seminar on almost the whole of Saturday and heading out early on Sunday for a shoot. We started off with the Yuzu Mori which is like 8 different sashimis on one serving. There were two pieces of each so it was just right for us.

When it arrived, it was almost too beautiful to eat. Yeah right, we ate it all up within minutes. The Yuzu Mori costs RM88.

Then we ordered one of my all time favs at Yuzu, the Special Toro Sushi. This is like grilled toro on a bed of rice with some teriyaki sauce. Absolute yum I tell you. I know people like rice that are not too sticky but I was struggling with the rice on this. It kept breaking apart. My skills is not l337 enough yet. This was RM28.

Next up was the Mango Soft Shell Crab Harumaki and when I saw it in the menu, I thought I can’t go wrong since I like mangoes and soft shell crabs. Turned out that it was a tad too “green” for me. The mango was sweet and I couldn’t really taste the soft shell crab. This was RM18.

We have a thing for potato salads. We like them a lot and we try to order them at every sushi outlet we go to. This was surprisingly the first time we ordered the potato salad here. When it came, we were a bit wary. It looked quite different and expectations were high especially since it cost RM20. Thankfully, it was really good. Definitely one to order again next time.

Then came the highlight of the day. Sinful, high in cholesterol and some say cruel – it is our favourite sin food – the Foie Gras! At RM120 for 100gm, we can keep coming back to Yuzu for this. Our previous favourite was from Cafe Cafe in KL, but Yuzu have stolen the throne. Highly recommended if you are fine with eating such food :)

Stone grilled octopus was delivered to us next. By now, we were rather stuffed and one should never order food when you are super hungry! It looks like we over ordered but I was determined to finish everything. After Paul the Octopus predicted that Holland would lose, this was my chance of revenge. I attacked the grilled octopus like there was no tomorrow. Yummy! RM12 is a cheap price to pay for a lil satisfaction. Take that Paul!

The last dish was the Yazai Tempura or Vege Tempura. Somehow, the tempura in Yuzu is not quite satisfying. Probably the sauce is a bit of a miss. And from now on, I shall never squeeze lemon over tempura again. It just doesn’t work. At RM20, it wasn’t the best way to end the meal but the rest of the stuff more than made up for it.

Total damage to the wallet? RM371.45 including tax and service charge as well as an order of Macha Milkshake and Coke. I am definitely going back to Yuzu again.

Sharon and I went to Fullhouse a while back. And I really meant a while back. Back when I had the D700, before I sold it all off for D300 and more lights, and before I got a D700 again and now I have two bodies. So it was quite a while back. Trawled through my collection and I realised that I have not spoken about this place yet.

So here we go. Fullhouse is a concept cafe located in Sunway Pyramid and it is quite a nice place to eat. It has very classic looking tables and chairs, and a carpet of fake grass, in the middle of a mall. So, yes, it is quite unique.

We ordered one set to share, which was the Juliet set. The first dish was the mushroom soup. Pretty much your normal stuff except we get what seem like slices of nutty stuff on top of it. Not exactly mind blowing but good enough.

The next item on the set is the Smoked Salmon Salad which is Caesar Salad with pieces of salmon. Personally, I prefer bacon bits but salmon is alright as well sometimes. This time around, Sharon had a craving for salmon, so salmon it is. Again, not the best salad I had but it was good enough for me.

As you know, I kinda fail when I blog about food. I can’t remember the names, the price and when it has been months since I went there, I can’t even remember exactly what I ate. I just probably remember if it tasted good or bad. Our main was a seafood thingamajig with citrus sauce.

Seafood was rather fresh and once again, the dish was good enough. If anything came out of this trip to Fullhouse, it is that the ambiance is certainly better than the food.

I can still remember the deco, and some of the stuff we bought at their trinket shop. But the food was not great, it wasn’t bad, it was just alright. If you are interested in the experience, then give them a visit at:

I am a big fan of “yue tiao” or however you spell that. When I heard there was a Spanish version of it (although someone will probably tell me it is different), I thought it was good to give it a try. After all, Sharon and I had time to kill before our movie and we didn’t get desserts during our dinner.

Fried stuff with chocolate dip sounds like a good plan. Off we went in search of Molten Lava at 1Utama and we finally found it opposite Sharon’s fav shop, Daiso.

We were the only customers there, so I could take time to shoot the frying shot (in the first pic) and it finally landed on our table. It took a bit of time though but it was fresh and piping hot! Just the way it is meant to be. Wonder if there are lots of customers, will it still be the same…

As you can see, it really resembles the “yue tiao” except it is thinner, and it has white stuff sprinkled on it. Of course, the Chinese version doesn’t come with a chocolate dip as well.

It was good though! Dipped into the chocolate, which wasn’t too sweet, it was a satisfying dessert for me. And this is pretty much where I fail in food blogging because I never remember the pricing. I don’t think it was too expensive though, and I am sure below RM10 was probably the price.

If you are interested to give it a go, you can visit them at the address below. Have a good weekend people!

First of all, I am not a big fan of Korean cuisine but I find myself eating it more often these days. After all, I can’t really argue with meat on grills. Secondly, I am not a food photographer, I just happened to shoot photos of stuff I eat. So, pardon the lack of composition :P

Anyway, Ko Hyang was a restaurant that Sharon and I just decided to try. Pretty random, and we ran out of ideas of places to eat before our usual movie. This place is not cheap though, I think it cost a RM300 dent in our pockets just for the two of us.

One good thing I like about Korean restaurants is the unlimited refill for the side dishes. I don’t particularly fancy kimchi so I eat the rest while Sharon will take over the kimchi. Since it is refillable, I pretty much eat alot of it and I suggest that you do too.

One thing about kimchi that I don’t mind though is the kimchi soup. And the ones they have here is pretty good. While not too spicy (which I prefer), it is not too sour as well. And definitely one that is suited more to my taste than other kimchi soups that I have tasted.

But the real reason why I like Korean cuisine is the meat. I don’t care about anything else but the meat. And when you have someone grill/ cook it in front of you, all the better. You get to eat it hot and on the spot. And that stuff is delicious!

Of course, it is not cheap as evident from our bill but I pay for good meat and good service and Go-Gung did well on both accounts. Are there better and cheaper Korean restaurants out there? Probably, the SS2 Korean restaurant springs to mind but if you are around here, and you are looking to splurge, why not?

This is going to be a combo post because I didn’t take that many pictures. After all, it is just noodles, so one shot should already tell my story. I have a couple of favourite noodle spots around KL but the best for me would have to be Woo Pin Fish Head noodles located in Taman Desa.

This is simply the best fish head noodles I’ve had and it is worth the drive from Kota Kemuning. Of course, while they are famous for their fish head noodles, my usual order is the fish paste noodle, because no bones mah! If you are interested in this place, it is located at:

Next up is a good bowl of beef noodles. I’ve heard good stuff about the Yang Kee Beef Noodles or Mi Daging and decided to try it out myself. The noodles was alright, lots of minced meat is good stuff but I’ll probably try their lou shu fun next time over the wantan mee. Not a big fan of wantan mee.

But the beef was to die for! It was juicy and tender and definitely worth the trip. The beef balls were bouncy, but was second to the beef slices themselves. If you want to give this a go, you can find them at:

Last Sunday, I had a gathering with the usual photo gang (the old legs of Lowyat.NET D300 thread) for a meal at Meatworks in Solaris Mont Kiara. It was my first time there and well, let’s just say I found a good place to have nice steak at relatively affordable price.

Tim ordered a flat bread with feta cheese and chudney as starters, and he was kind enough to share it with the table. The bread was soft, not so sure if I was a fan of the two dips.

Sharon and I ordered another appetiser which was simply called, Scallops. We love scallops and these scallops were big and juicy. Full marks to Meatworks for doing seafood well! And you thought they were only good for steaks. With such juicy scallops, I didn’t pay attention the tomato bits they used as the sauce. Considering they didn’t make me think twice of finishing the scallops, I guessed they must have been good as well.

We also ordered one of the “Soups of the Day” and it was the French Onion Soup. Way too salty for me. It was like they used seawater for the broth. The onion taste wasn’t too overpowering so it could have been nice, if it was less salty.

Next, came the meat. We wanted to order the 1kg ribs on the bone but they didn’t have it. It was also known as the Brontosaurus and it was a signature dish. What a pity.

So I ordered the Sirloin. Medium rare and they got it right! I am a happy man. Plus points for the chef because many places get it all wrong. Bloody, tender and absolutely chewy. And the fat on the sirloin was also a delight. Just add a couple more kilos for me but it is ok. All worth it.

Sharon ordered the ribeye and she wanted it medium well. Looked a bit overcook to me but I think it was alright. She didn’t say it was too tough and when I ate some of it, it was alright. Maybe I got deceived by the colour. She ordered the special ribeye on the menu with extra horseradish and some funky name sauce which tasted just like my brown sauce. Oh well, but she got mashed potato to go along with hers.

And masher is always good. All in all, I would say that it was worth the price we paid. Almost RM150 for the two of us inclusive of drinks. Of course, the flat bread came free courtesy of Tim :P

I would go back there and I would definitely recommend this place. They just need a wee bit variety for their menu.

The last time I was there at Din Tai Fung, it was for lunch and it was a treat by a friend so I didn’t dare order too much. This time around, no such worries so went all out. Sharon and I started with appetisers and we went with an order of her favourite dish – the century egg with ginger.

We also ordered the jelly fish, a cold dish that you would find normally on the first course of a Chinese wedding dinner. With the appetisers out of the way, it was time to take a look at the more serious food. The main courses!

I ordered a special La Mian on the menu and it was plain la mian served with some meaty combo with a bit of tofu as well. It was quite nice and since we ordered a number of other dishes, we thought something simple with the noodles would do us good.

A trip to Din Tai Fung is not complete if an order of the xiao long bao is not made. So I definitely ordered one basket for the two of us. I decided to try the crabmeat filling version but frankly speaking, not much difference from the normal one. I shall stick to the normal one next time and save myself some dough.

Vegetables is good for us, therefore I ordered a plate of my favourite at these Chinese restaurants – the simple but ultimately delicious fried long beans. I think I shall make this my “must order dish” whenever I go to a Taiwanese restaurant.

We also decided to end our dinner with a simple dessert, the yam paste with gingko nuts. I think they are called gingko nuts. Not to sweet, just nice and the gingko wasn’t bitter. It was all good.

We left the restaurant, wallets lighter, stomach filled and very happy indeed.

My client was going to hold an event at Subak so we went there for a small food tasting session and to have our own lunch as well. Subak is a restaurant somewhere in Penchala (full address at the bottom of the post with a link to their site which has a map). The ambiance is really nice if you are into the whole nature thing. I believe it will look even better at night.

We were first served with the Mussels and Baked Cheese which is something not on the menu. This was good, and they should certainly look at this making the dish a permanent fixture on the menu.

Next we were served another portion of another dish to taste: the Marsala Lamb. Now this was also pretty good. Not too spicy, just enough to give it flavor. It was really tender too. Not too sure if its Marsala but its something like that :P

It was time to get my personal order of the main course and I went with a Stir Fried Udon with Vegetables and Meat which cannot be more specific in its name. I would have preferred a black pepper version though as this one was a bit too bland for my taste.

Overall, Subak does serve pretty good food, and the ambiance is pretty nice if you are into the whole nature thing. The pricing is a bit on the high side, but they need to work on getting their food out while it is piping hot. They are doing a good job of serving everyone their meal at the same time but the chef must have missed the memo that all the dishes must be cooked at the same time as well.

Everyone knows Funan Digital Mall in Singapore for its IT and gadget stuff. Very few talk about it for food. But there are some pretty nice places to eat in Funan itself and Paradise Inn is one of them. Serving Chinese food, one can expect the usual affair with good taste at a decent price.

I am a big fan of the err braised (?) peanuts, so any restaurant that serves me that, and it is done well deserves a good mention.

Sharon tasted a bit of this dish the last time, and she wanted to eat it again. I am also happy to give this dish a second go. It is pretty much soup, with poached Chinese spinach and a combination of egg, salted egg and century egg – all in a superior broth thingamajig.

This is really good and a dish I would recommend to anyone. I believe some of them call it “seong tong”.

Sharon loves century egg, and so do I. Not a big fan of pickled ginger though, so I usually down the egg by itself. You can’t really mess this up.

Take another dish that you can’t go wrong like Sweet and Sour Pork, add lychees to it and you have a combination that will satisfy me. It is not a “must eat” but it contains two of my favourite ingredients – pork and lychees so yes, it is good. You probably won’t be able to differentiate it from any usual sweet and sour pork though. Until you bite into the lychees, then you taste lychee :P

We moved on to desserts and the first was Ah Baling with Red Bean Sago. Not too sweet, and the filling was nice, substantial enough to call it filling. This is a good dessert to have, at least better than our next.

The Sweet Taro Paste with Sweet Potato looks good on paper. We were excited to try it until they served us one that has gone bad. That was a pity, it was so promising but all we remember of it now is the sour taste. They refunded us but we will try it the next time. If we dare.

So, there you have it, Paradise Inn in Funan Digital Mall, Singapore. If you are hungry after shopping for gadgets, then this place could help you appease that hunger.
