Many would have read that I first announced that I wanted to retire from wedding photography in 2016. The reason was very simple, I wanted to spend more time with my son. Instead of going cold turkey straightaway, I decided to take a lower number of shoots because I could spend time with my family. I thought 2017 would be the year I would stop especially as my little princess became a member of our family at the end of 2015.

But as you can see. Retirement is not happening. I am still passionate about weddings. And this continues to be a hobby that has helped me grow as a person, learn different things about people and have an out. But I will be honest with every couple that is reading this. I am not retiring not just because I love weddings. I really do. But wedding photography has given me an extra income that is extremely crucial for me now.

If you are a fan of my Facebook Page and you read this noteย that I wrote, then you will know that my little princess has a rare disease that will require treatment. It is going to be a long term treatment and I will need to build up the funds needed in the future.

That is why retirement has taken a backseat. Not that I love to flip flop on my decisions but because this time around, it was out of necessity. Thankfully, the financial reason is not the only reason for me to do so. The passion is still there.

Maybe one day I will be able to say, “I love your weddings but I need to spend time with my family” again. And hopefully that time, I will be able to fulfil that promise to my wife and kids. And they will finally have a husband and father that won’t disappear during the weekends.

Until then, keep those weddings coming ๐Ÿ™‚

Note: These images on the post are some of my favourites from 2015. I will be putting together a compilation of it up soon so do keep a lookout for it ๐Ÿ™‚
