I’ve been getting some requests on what shots we take at banquet and I realised that I seldom (or maybe never) post shots of dinner or lunch banquets. Not that I don’t like them but it has never been something I look at posting. I always thought that it is a given that we will know how to take banquet shots. Many would have read that I first announced that I wanted to retire from wedding photography in 2016. The reason was very simple, I wanted to spend more time with my son. Photographing Sam and Vic’s big day started when my colleague asked me if she could hire me as a gift for her best friends. It was meant to be a simple 3-hour shoot to serve as their pre-wedding. I have seen some photographers say that one should never be satisfied with their work. In a way, I understand where they are coming from. After all, I am all about continuous learning as well. But in another way, I disagree with them. I believe that being satisfied with your own work is in no way being complacent. After all, if you are not satisfied with your own work, how can you expect your clients to be? There has to be some degree of satisfaction, else there will be no fun in continuing what we are doing.
